It is important to Pro Ed to maintain customer privacy. An essential function of Pro Ed’s is providing continuing education and credits based on information you provide we want you to understand what types of information Pro Ed collects and what is done with that information. Our privacy includes:

1. What information is collected by Pro Ed
Information is collected from our customers at several different points during interaction with Pro Ed.
Registration–During registration for our certification reviews, AHA courses or for scholarship application, our customers are required to provide certain information, such as name, address, e-mail address, professional license, phone number(s), payment information, employer, and school (for scholarship application).
Passive Collection of Information–In addition to the information which you actively provide to Pro Ed by methods such as completing the registration form, Pro Ed collects information about how you interact with our site. Pro Ed collects passive information for purposes such as testing and improving a customer’s experience at the site and the compilation of broad aggregate demographic data and related usage information for internal purposes. The types of passive information collected by this site include, without limitation, your IP address, which type of browser you are using, where you go on our site, and how long you stay on any part of our site. Passive information does not identify you to Pro Ed by name, and Pro Ed does not link your IP address to your personally identifiable information.
Collection of Information from Children–Pro Ed abides by federal law and the guidelines set up by the Federal Trade Commission regarding youth privacy. As such, Pro Ed will not knowingly collect any personal information from or allow the registration of young people under the age of 13.
2. How this information is used by Pro Ed
The information which you supply to Pro Ed enables us to provide scholarship, continuing education credit and match services by matching your background to our database of courses. We use data about you to potentially send you emails regarding upcoming programs and courses.
Contacting You by E-Mail–Pro Ed may use your contact information periodically in order to send you e-mail regarding updates at the Pro Ed site, such as new Pro Ed opportunities and additional courses which may be of interest to you. The frequency of these messages will vary depending varying courses you may be interest in. Out of respect for the privacy of our customers, we present the option to opt-out of receiving newsletters and/or e-mails whenever such messages are sent by Pro Ed, as described below in section 4, “MODIFICATION OF PRIVACY PREFERENCES AND OPT OUTS.”
3. SHARING OF INFORMATION
Pro Ed will not knowingly sell, share, rent or otherwise transfer your information other than in accordance with the terms set forth in this Privacy Policy.
Third-Party Service Providers–From time to time, Pro Ed may decide that it is more efficient to use third parties to perform specific services, such as sending newsletters to Pro Ed’s customers. If we use a third party to provide specific services (such as sending newsletters to our customers on our behalf), then information (such as contact information) may be shared with that party to the extent necessary for the third party to provide these services. These third-party service providers are only allowed to use personally identifiable information for the purpose of providing the specific services requested by Pro Ed. The third-party services covered by this paragraph do not include links to third-party sites found on our site, which are governed by a more specific provision (Links to Other Sites) below.
Disclosure to Law Enforcement and Similar Disclosures–While Pro Ed strives to protect the personal information of our customers, Pro Ed discloses information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity, or if it believes in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect our rights or property (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; (d) protect the personal safety of customers or the public; or (e) comply with a regulatory agency such as the California Board of Registered Nursing.
4. MODIFICATION OF PRIVACY PREFERENCES AND OPT OUTS
Pro Ed customers are given the opportunity to “opt-out” of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site. Pro Ed will only communicate with you according to your instructions. If you wish to opt-out of communications, please make your request via email and you will be removed from the list. Pro Ed has security measures in place to help protect against the loss, misuse and/or unauthorized alteration of the information under our control.
Pro Ed helps protect personally identifiable information by utilizing both online and offline security methods, including firewalls, passwords and restricted physical access to the places where your information is stored. Our staff is trained to comply with our security procedures, and our security procedures are regularly reviewed and revised, if necessary, by the Privacy Team at Pro Ed.

6. HOW YOU CAN UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION
You can update your personal information by clicking “Contact Us” link on the Pro Ed site, or by following the instructions included in any e-mail message you receive from Pro Ed. Customers who are experiencing problems with updating their information should contact us at info@forproed.com, and we will try to resolve your problems.
7. OTHER PROVISIONS
Acceptance of Terms/Changes to Privacy Policy–Your use of this site indicates an acceptance of the terms of the Privacy Policy. Pro Ed reserves the right to update or amend this Privacy Policy at any time. If Pro Ed decides to materially change this Privacy Policy, those changes will be posted through a prominent notice on the web site so that you will always know what information Pro Ed gathers, how it might use that information, and to whom it will disclose that information.
Disclaimer–Pro Ed provides information on many topics. Some of this information is created by Pro Ed, and some of it is created by third parties. 8. Credit Card / Transaction Information
We care about the safety and security of your transaction. We use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to communicate with your browser software when you register with us online. SSL is the industry standard security protocol, which makes it extremely difficult for anyone else to intercept your credit card or other information that you send us or through PayPal.
We have partnered with the commercial Internet financial service, PayPal and Square to handle credit card transactions, and we do not store credit card information after the transaction is processed. Please see either PayPal’s or Square’s privacy policy.
