Course Descriptions
All of our courses offer content that is current and the result of evidence-based research and practice. The courses listed below only represent our most frequent presentations. Please call Pro Ed for additional specialty presentations.

FREE CLASSES: If you sign up nine other participants for a class, you will receive your class free. For example, if you need an ACLS class and sign up nine other people to take the class at the same time, your class will be free (excluding textbooks, if applicable). We offer the free class option to encourage and reward individuals who expend the effort to help us develop classes. Individuals who arrange smaller classes will be offered a 50 % discount.

EKG Interpretation
This is the same as a Dysrhythmia course. The class is required prior to taking ACLS or PALS. Classes may be 4 hours in length, once a week for four or five weeks, or presented in two, eight hour sessions. There is a homework component to this class. The class is fun and interactive. Content covers cardiac anatomy and the conduction system, the cardiac cycle, lead placement, sinus rhythms, atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, heart blocks, and ventricular rhythms. The course also covers S-T segment monitoring, introduction to 12 lead EKGs and pacemakers. We provide course materials and books, including multiple practice strips. Completion of this course will prepare you to work in a monitored unit.

12-Lead EKG Interpretation
Course content includes:
Cardiac anatomy and physiology review
Lead placement
Axis determination
Acute myocardial infarction
SVT versus bundle branch blocks
Torsade de Pointes
Atrial and ventricular hypertrophy
Pulmonary embolism
Pacemakers
Electrolyte imbalance

Basic Life Support Health Care Provider
One day class covering adult, child and infant resuscitation for one and two rescuers, foreign body obstruction, use of a bag-valve mask device, and use of an AED. Text is required. Please call Pro Ed to inquire about obtaining a text. Individual classes can be arranged.

CEN Review
One or two day course to prepare experienced ED RNs to take the Certified Emergency Nurse exam. The review covers legal issues, air and ground transport, trauma management, burns, substance abuse, abuse (all ages) and shock. Also addressed are emergencies such as respiratory, cardiovascular, neurologic, toxicologic, obstetric, and environmental. The course follows ENA guidelines and content.

Critical Care Nursing
Usually presented as a five-day,40 hour course, either in one week of eight hour days or one day a week for five weeks. Course may vary according to the facility's needs. Content will prepare nurses and new grads to work in a critical care area. Content includes advanced assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, shock states, respiratory failure/airway management, hematological alterations, gastrointestinal alterations, renal failure, and cardiac alterations. A basic EKG course is also recommended. AACN guidelines are followed.

CCRN Review - Adult
One or two-day course to prepare nurses to take the Adult CCRN exam. The review covers respiratory/airway management, ABG interpretation, ventilators, cardiac alterations, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, shock states, neurologic/ endocrine/gastrointestinal alterations, renal failure, and test taking skills.

Drug/Dosage Calculations
Review for new grads and practicing nurses. Presented as a one-day review. We provide hundreds of practice problems for the student to work at home. Topics include: a review of arithmetic, the drug administration process (6 rights), drugs orders, common abbreviations, converting from one measurement system to another, and calculations of flow rates for enteral and intravenous solutions.

Emergency Room Nursing
Usually presented as a five-day, 40 hour course, either in one week of eight-hour days or one day a week for five weeks. Course may vary according to the department's needs. Content will prepare nurses and new grads to work in an emergency department. Content includes advanced assessment, shock states, respiratory failure/airway management, hematological alterations, gastrointestinal alterations, renal failure, trauma management, air and ground transport, pediatric assessment, and cardiac alterations. A basic EKG course is also recommended. ENA guidelines are followed.

Introduction to Neurological Nursing and Assessment
A one-day course for students and practicing nurses to provide a background for accurate and timely neurological assessment. Many nurses are not prepared to perform a proper neuro assessment or find the subject intimidating. We make it interesting and fun! Covers pathophysiology, assessment, ICP monitoring, general nursing care, trauma, diabetes insipidus, spinal cord injury, and SIADH. We help you answer those pesky questions like, "What position do I put this patient in?" or "Which way is a positive Babinski, up or down?"

Neonatal CCRN Review
One-day course to prepare nurses to take the Neonatal CCRN exam. Course is broken down by General Assessment & Management, Pathophysiology, Professional Issues, and Family Care. The review covers respiratory/airway management, ABG interpretation, ventilators, cardiac alterations, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, neurologic/ endocrine/ gastrointestinal alterations, renal failure, developmental issues, genetic disorders, and test taking skills.

Shock States
A one- day course that reviews and differentiates the types of shock. Covers assessment, diagnosis, pathophysiology, and current treatment modalities. A great course for students and practicing healthcare professionals.
